The Eastbourne organisers must be drowning their sorrows in ice-cream by the sea-side as wildcard fourth seed, former World No. 1 and two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka joined Agnieszka Radwanska on an early train back to Wimbledon.
Finland's Jarkko Nieminen earned an upset of Colombian seventh seed Santiago Giraldo 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 as the smaller men's event took a definite second billing to the women also on at Devonshire Park.
Judy Murray has finally made a response to criticism from Boris Becker three years ago that her son Andy would not win a grand slam title until she was on the sidelines. Wimbledon champion Murray won the title at the All England club last summer, under the tutelage of Ivan Lendl, since departed from the coaching team.
With two wins from three grass matches so far in Britain, Bernard Tomic is starting to feel optimistic about his tennis again, The 21-year-old Australian who underwent double hip surgery at the start of the year, did however have a complaint about noise distraction during his opening victory at Eastbourne over Andrey Golubev.
David Ferrer, the world no.7 who has been a Wimbledon quarterfinalist for the last two years, has flown back home to Valencia for a major check up with his doctor and rates himself as doubtful for the Championships that begin next Monday.
Many big stars recall it as wacky Wednesday. The third day of last year’s Championships when Wimbledon’s grass began to play more like an ice rink of several big names, such as Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and Marin Cilic all suffered bad tumbles while Victoria Azarenka was forced to withdraw because of an injury she suffered because of a slip on court a few days earlier.

London tennis fans are thrilled that this years French Open Champion and current World No.1 Rafael Nadal has confirmed that he will play at the BNP Paribas Tennis Classic on Friday 20th June. In addition to this, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Marin Cilic will also join ATP stars Andy Murray, Kei Nishikori, Tommy Robredo, Tomas Berdych & Grigor Dimitrov to complete this years line up of the BNP Paribas Tennis Classic.
