This was a match of rather wild momentum swings. The first two swings are obvious, but in the third set, Serena Williams built a 5-2 lead, then almost let it slip away. That leaves Caroline Wozniacki at #11, and with no chance to rise above that at New Haven.

World No. 1 Serena Williams clinched the 2014 Emirates Airline US Open Series women’s title today by defeating Caroline Wozniacki, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, in the semifinals of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.
It has been another picture-perfect week at the Linder Family Tennis Center for the Western & Southern Open. It is true that there may be some other tournaments that are more prestigious so to speak, but it is hard to beat the Cincinnati Masters in terms of fan experience.
