Well thank heavens for that chink in the clouds, a return to the norm … we don’t mind admitting we were properly exhausted after all the drama of Day Three at the Australian Open, and Day Four was a little happier. OK well maybe not for eighth seed Caroline Wozniacki.

By recent standards, this is already a successful Australian Open for the American men. Two are through to the third round as of Thursday afternoon Australia time and both John Isner and Steve Johnson have advanced in convincing fashion. But it could be oh so much better.
This was hard to believe -- Alexandra Panova was up 4-1, 30-0 in the third set. The commentators thought that the double-fault that followed was critical, but whatever the crucial point (if there was one), Panova failed to convert two match points, leaving Maria Sharapova still in the hunt for the #1 ranking. She'll surely have to do better than this, though.

The drama was to be had in the iconic Rod Laver Arena as first hot favourite Maria Sharapova, then Roger Federer, and then finally Rafael Nadal all took their turn to broil in the Round Two pressure cooker.

The first three days of the Australian Open were nothing short of phenomenal. Five-setters galore, plenty of upsets, Aussies faring well at their home slam, and drama involving the top players in the world have ruled the tournament. What will Day 4 do for an encore? We'll see when Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, and many others take the court.

In time for the year's first Grand Slam, the Australian Open, Tennis Channel is now available on Apple TV, which marks the network's first digital streaming partner. Apple TV users who subscribe to Tennis Channel via their cable, satellite or telco providers will have TV Everywhere access to the network's linear feed though the platform.
After a wild first round highlight by some outstanding wins for the host nation, there is no rest for the weary. Second-round action will get underway on Wednesday, with both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal taking the court. A throng of Aussies including Bernard Tomic and Nick Kyrgios will also be looking for more success.

It was a day that will not soon be forgotten Down Under. Six Aussie men advanced to the second round on day one at the Australian Open, and four did it in five sets. One way or another, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Nick Kyrgios, James Duckworth, Marinko Matosevic, Bernard Tomic, and Sam Groth found the winners' circle on Monday at Melbourne Park.
