Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan captured their 102nd tour title on Sunday at the Paris Master Series Event as they defeated Marcin Matkowski of Poland and Austrian Jurgen Melzer 7-6(5), 5-7, 10-6 in the final. It is the Bryans’ 32nd Masters 1000 in their 50th final.
Rafael Nadal got in some much-needed match practice on Monday ahead of his first-round singles match at the China Open, albeit in a losing effort. Nadal, who last played at Wimbledon before being sidelined by a wrist injury, teamed up with fellow Spaniard Pablo Andujar and fell to Tomas Berdych and John Isner 7-5, 4-6, 10-4.
Another week, another item for the Bryan Brothers record book. In this case, one hundred titles. Pretty routinely. Granollers/Lopez actually had more winners, but they also had far, far more errors -- the Bryans officially produced only five. Hard to beat a team that plays like that.
Fourteen months following her induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Martina Hingis is rewriting her remarkable résumé yet again.
This took a lot longer than you would think from the score, but it ended with Lleyton Hewitt eliminated. And he was defending fourth round points. He'll fall from #41 to probably #47 or #48.
