Not surprisingly, the big topic of conversation early this morning was the scheduling of matches on the main show court Manolo Santana at the Mutua Madrid Open.
The Mutua Madrid Open had it all on Wednesday. A marathon in a marquee women's matchup (Serena Williams saved three match points in a win over Victoria Azarenka), hometown dominance (five Spanish men advanced to the last 16, including upsets by Marcel Granollers and Fernando Verdasco), and a 3:00 a.m. finish (Andy Murray vs. Philipp Kohlschreiber).
Well now that all depends on your point of view really. In the red corner (we would say pink, but we’re not in the mood for stereotypes this evening!) we had Maria Sharapova weather a comeback from the feisty Caroline Garcia.

World TeamTennis today announced the schedule for the 2015 season, which is highlighted by the return of world No. 1 Serena Williams to WTT action for the first time since 2011.
Serena got off to a very fast 3-0 lead in her 3rd round match vs. 15 year old Catherine “CiCi” Bellis in Miami yesterday. But in her 2nd serve game, CiCi seemed to settle her nerves and play the style of tennis that has gotten her to this place – aggressive, steady, and unfazed by the literal and figurative stature of the woman standing across the net.
