A high-quality battle in the second round of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament on Thursday saw Stan Wawrinka overcome familiar foe Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-2. Wawrinka fired eight aces without double-faulting as he advanced in two hours and 15 minutes.
This wasn't a particularly long match -- about an hour and forty minutes, and it would have been shorter had Stan Wawrinka not fired multiple lets on match points -- but if Wawrinka wants to get his ranking back up, he'll need to do better than this. He still needs at least three more wins to rise above his current #8.

Milos Raonic sealed his debut with a 19th ace to see off Russian qualifier Alexander Kuznetsov 6-7(5), 6-1, 7-5. The Canadian second seed needed a comeback after losing the opening set to the No. 88 before taking control in the second set and keeping up the pressure in the third to book into the second round.
The ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament features an incredible draw, especially by 500-point standards. Dominic Thiem, however, got a favorable one for his first-round contest.
