With less than three weeks to go before the U.S. Open, the Rogers Cup gives players not only a chance for success at a big tournament but it also opens the door for a major ranking improvement and perhaps a seeded spot at the year's final Grand Slam. So far in Toronto, Julien Benneteau and Ivan Dodig are taking advantage.
It was Canada's time to shine in the United States on Sunday, when Milos Raonic battled Vasek Pospisil in the Washington, D.C. final. Now will it be Australia's time to shine in Canada on Monday? Lleyton Hewitt, Bernard Tomic, Marinko Matosevic, and Thanasi Kokkinakis make up a quartet of Australians in action at the Rogers Cup.
I wake up everyday a little sore from the previous long but hard earned day. I look into the mirror with a determined heart and focused eyes. The first thing I look at is a picture of my hero Lleyton Hewitt pumping his fist with a quote below which reads "Just give 100 percent. And that's not just in tennis or sports; that's in life. If you give 100 percent, you'll have no regrets. "
A trio of 250-point tournament titles were handed out on Sunday. In the last grass-court event on the 2014 ATP Tour calendar, Lleyton Hewitt triumphed over Ivo Karlovic in a third-set tiebreaker.
It was like watching a movie that opens your eyes, lifts your soul, and touches your heart. Throughout the movie you have tears of joy and you feel inspired. In the movies, we see our hero progress, strive, and endure his way through a path towards his final encounter.
Big serving has ruled the U.S. Men's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships so far, with the exception of two-time runner-up Lleyton Hewitt making his way to quarterfinals. Also still alive are Ivo Karlovic (semifinals), Samuel Groth (semifinals) and a quarterfinal trio of John Isner, Jack Sock, and Steve Johnson.
"The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotion, spends himself in a worthy cause; who at best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement..."
Jack Sock returned to action on Tuesday, just two days after capping off a dream doubles run at Wimbledon with a title-clinching, five-set victory over Bob and Mike Bryan with partner Vasek Pospisil.
The first time I saw Austrailian’s Lleyton Hewitt was during the 2000 US Open semi-finals where he played the great Pete Sampras. It was the ultimate underdog versus the great champion match up. Sampras had been proudly wearing the mantle of American tennis and was already seen as one of the greatest players of all time.

The round of 32 will take final shape after action is completed on Thursday. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are expected to be among those still alive, but the two former champions do not have easy second-round matchups on their hands.
The second day of action at the All-England Club will feature several past champions, including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Lleyton Hewitt. Jerzy Janowicz, a semifinalist in 2013, is also in action. So, too, are Wimbledon marathon men John Isner and Nicolas Mahut.
The full entry list for the BB&T Atlanta Open, the first stop during this summer's U.S. Open Series, was revealed earlier this week. Among others rounding out the field are Lleyton Hewitt, Radek Stepanek, Dmitry Tursunov, Vasek Pospisil, and 2013 runner-up Kevin Anderson.
With the sun beating down and the grass playing perfectly, four-time champion Lleyton Hewitt and Britain’s No.2 and No.3 players were all victorious on day one of the Aegon Championships at The Queen’s Club.
Lleyton Hewitt will begin his hunt for a record fifth Aegon Championships title on Centre Court at The Queen’s Club on Monday. The 2002 Wimbledon Champion will face the unseeded Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the third match scheduled for the opening day of the 2014 Aegon Championships.
