The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) launched today the "Road To Singapore", a season-long campaign which will see the WTA stars through their journey from the beginning of the year to its culmination during the season-ending WTA Championships in Singapore.
This was a sort of an anti-serving contest; Serena was struggling, and we know about Maria Sharapova's shoulder problems. Still, Sharapova lasted long enough to earn the #3 ranking.

Maria Sharapova made a winning comeback from a shoulder injury as she claimed her first victory since June to advance over Caroline Garcia of France 6-3, 6-0. The Russian third seed in a field headed by Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka was working for the first time with new coach Sven Groenveld.
