Great Britain’s James Ward put history firmly on his country’s side Friday by defeating the United States’ Sam Querrey, 1-6, 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, in the day’s second singles match, vaulting Great Britain to a 2-0 advantage over the U.S. in the Davis Cup First Round tie at San Diego’s Petco Park.

One of the big problems with Davis Cup is that, the better you perform, the more weeks you have to set aside to play Davis Cup. You can't just win one week and then take a break. Win a tie, and your reward is to play the next tie.
