In the first singles match of the day, 19-year old American Ryan Harrison defeated No. 4 seed Xavier Malisse. With the match tied at a set a piece and 2-1 in the third set, lightning and then rain halted play for two-and-a-half hours.
In the bottom half of the draw the No.3 seeds Oliver Marach and Alexander Peya will find the German pair of Andreas Beck and Christopher Kas on the other side of the net. Peya and Marach needed 3 tough sets to fight off singles guys Gael Monfils and Gilles Simon 6-3 6-7 (3) 10-5.
