It’s rarely good when a person says, “I think I’m about to die.” But then, as a coach trying to expose younger players to the work required for professional advancement, those words are evidence of success.
American women have claimed eleven titles at Wimbledon over the past fifteen years. Ten of those titles belong to women who have the last name Williams and the other belongs to Lindsay Davenport. Maybe it’s the name of the “trophy”.
The second day of action at the All-England Club will feature several past champions, including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Lleyton Hewitt. Jerzy Janowicz, a semifinalist in 2013, is also in action. So, too, are Wimbledon marathon men John Isner and Nicolas Mahut.

Wimbledon gets off to its traditional Monday afternoon start with the defending champion taking Centre Court. This time around, it is none other than Great Britain's own Andy Murray.
Around 9:00 p.m. last night, one of my fifteen year-old students played her first professional tennis match. Meanwhile, the other fifteen year-old I brought with me, sat observing, learning and hoping to get into the draw as an alternate.

The girls didn’t get into the event. They are bummed out but energetic enough to rise early, so we are eating breakfast at 7:00 a.m. We plan a day in Play del Carmen before getting back to hit this….

In perfect sunshine, The Dutchman defeated Germany’s Jan Lennard-Struff 63 67(1) 10-7 in the final and was then presented with The Boodles trophy, a piece specially designed by Boodles for the event, encrusted with 50 diamonds and valued at over £50,000.
