Roger Federer is such a dominate force one often wonders , how does he do it ? What powers him and those running down the line cross courts ? One theory is those famous Lindt chocolate balls ? One theory is he is bionic and Mercedes has implanted a turbo charge chip in him ? Ok , not buying those ideas ? Rolex put in a gauge to measure the surroundings conditions and surroundings ( sort of an auto- drive ) ? How about this theory : He loves tennis more than anyone ever before ? Is that it ? The secret weapon ? Maybe it’s that simple!

Roger Federer loves tennis. Roger loves playing. Competing and most of all -winning ! He doesn’t like PRACTICE ,but who does. We practice because we get proficient. But it does really get to you sometimes. Did you happen to see Roger and his press interview on utube and Allen Iversons ranting on practice. It’s a classic.a must see .

Roger is playing in his hometown next week. Imagine ball boying at a tourney and dreaming of being a pro tennis player. Dreaming of winning championships. Dreaming of becoming the best ever. Personally I miss the Rogi who would say what player is going to win 24 points from me ?( to win a set ). He felt he could lose points or games. But not sets. Rarely matches.

The Basel event is a great warmup for the Paris indoors. It’s a great platform for year end rankings and championships. The doubles race is really close. We are all hoping Rogers old dubs partner and friend Max Mirnyi makes the final 8 once again. Weird the WTA only picks four teams for the year end championship. Sorry folks but doubles needs more love from within the sport. Both the ATP tour and WTA need to promote the doubles more. It’s a great sport. More people play dubs and in dubs leagues than singles.

Maybe the secret weapon is Lynette’s home cooking . Or Robbie’s enthusiasm . Or Mirkas and the twins at home with him . Home is where the heart is but this week they are in their own beds.

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
