Here we are in Chicago. What a great event. We’ve been to the WILSON factory daily. Love to see some of the great old frames we played with. Yes. A Jack Kramer pro staff, there’s Jimmy Connors frame he made famous the T- 2000. I still have the shin scars to prove I played with it. Fast follow thru in serve.

I saw the “STINGS” in red trim and blue trim. A great $100 graphite racket. I saw the Pro Staffs that were used by Sampras • Courier and Chang and Edberg all at the same time. Must have been a good racket… A 90 inch frame that Roger Federer’s moved into. I saw the great “GALAXY”. Too bad the throat vibrated after second string job. We saw the wide beam ridiculous PROFILES. Ugh, did that big sweet spot cause big tennis elbow – if you didn’t find it. Ok. Boring. But interesting to tennis historians.

The parties. Oh my gosh. Everything is a blur of blue and red. We saw Ana, Basti, Mirka and the Boys, Chris Evert, and the list doesn’t stop… Andrew Krasney did his usual outstanding job. The media were well treated. Yay. Well fed, appreciated, and gifted. Thank you.

We find the format similar to the men’s year end championships in LONDON. It works. The schedule is pretty good for all. Players as well as attendees.

The way the sessions are scheduled you can really not be bored or worn out by too much tennis • This has tons of energy and tons of emotions this is great fun tennis!

What an interesting concept. Full stadiums with spectators enjoying how they spend their discretionary money. Tennis is in the hospitality industry. [It doesn’t know that.] So this is probably the future of tennis? The Slams and these team matches.

We really missed someone who wasn’t at the LAVER CUP…. That’s MO!

Who? Mohamed Lahyani, the chair ump turned coach at the U.S. Open. ️Maybe he was suffering from the heat • who knows…. But his banishment is terrible!

He was relegated to back courts the rest of the Open. If you didn’t know. He has been suspended without pay till rest of the month.

Every generation has a great chair UMP that stands out. Examples • Frank Hammond • Gerry Armstrong • But nobody ever was in MO’s league.

Yes, he has a big smile and personality.

Mohamed Lahyani is the best Chair Umpire EVER! And • We Love You Mo!

Editors Note • Rod Laver belongs on the court with the players. Sitting on the couches. Hanging with the tennis guys. But instead he is sitting in a nice stadium seat. Is it too obvious? Maybe a gold emperors chair. But knowing ROD the idea of drifting among the two teams would be more fun that anything on earth. Think about it Roger. Tony. Or Rod speak up. It’s Your CUP!

TENNIS GOSSIP FROM THE 2018 U.S. OPEN • WTA | ATP • FEDERER HAS PLAYED 1,424 MATCHES WITHOUT A “RETIREMENT”

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
