Carlsbad, CA (June 11, 2013) – Tonic by Martina Hingis has been named Official Clothing Partner of the Southern California Open, tournament organizers announced today.Hingis, who is scheduled to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame later this year, made history as the youngest Grand Slam Champion of this era and the youngest top ranked player in the game. Having moved on from competition on the Pro Tour, the retired player is busy exploring new ventures, such as coaching, playing World Team Tennis and now, collaborating with Tonic to create her own signature tennis collection.

“We are extremely proud to have Tonic by Martina Hingis as the official clothing partner of the Southern California Open,” said Tournament Director Alastair Garland. “We are happy to be associated with a partner whose clothing has been inspired by such a great champion.”

Since 2004, Tonic Lifestyle Apparel has been thoughtfully designed and manufactured in Vancouver, Canada. Their collections reflect life on the West Coast and influences from the runway. The pieces are playful, natural, and alluring. Their focus is on elegant active wear that performs when you need it to.

“Tonic is delighted with the opportunity to sponsor this top tennis event. Martina loved to play at the La Costa Resort and Spa when she was on tour, so we’re excited to be involved in this tournament as our first major sponsorship,” said Leopoldo Gutierrez, CEO Tonic Active Wear. “As a long-time supporter of women’s tennis, the Southern California Open highlights the importance of furthering the development of women in sport, which is an important aspect of Tonic’s involvement in tennis.”

In collaboration with 15-time Grand Slam Champion Martina Hingis, this collection was created for the high intensity movements of tennis. On and off the court, the pieces offer superb fit and function while making onlookers stop and take notice. Martina’s expertise and inspiration has allowed us to create a unique collection that will no doubt motivate you to pick up a racket and go play tennis. For more information on Tonic, go to:
