HOUSTON – The record-setting four-time champion Bryan Brothers and 2010 singles finalist Sam Querrey will join top-ranked American Mardy Fish at the 2012 US Men’s Clay Court Championship April 9-15 at River Oaks Country Club.
Twins Bob and Mike Bryan have rewritten the doubles history books. Among the records they hold are most career team titles (75) as well as most years as No. 1 team (7), and they are tied with each other for most weeks ranked No. 1 individually (271).
The Bryans also have won a tournament-record four titles at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship, including the last three in a row, and they own a 16-match winning streak in Houston (did not play 2008 event). Overall, they are 24-6 at the tournament.
Last year the Bryans defeated Querrey and John Isner in the doubles final. Querrey has also been a singles finalist in Houston, falling to Juan Ignacio Chela in the 2010 title match. In his career, Querrey owns six ATP titles.
Querrey joins Fish in the singles field. Fish finished the 2011 season ranked No. 8 with a title and two other finals. He was champion at the 2006 US Men’s Clay Court Championship.
“As a USTA national championship, it’s certainly important to us to have top American players in the tournament,” said Tournament Director Van Barry. “The Bryans, Sam and Mardy are not only great players but good ambassadors for the game. We look forward to hosting them all at River Oaks in April.”
