Super popular Roger Federer has arrived in Basel in time for the Swiss Indoors starting on Monday. All his fans around the world have been waiting for his comeback. Over nine million followers on Facebook could read the following message from the Swiss star this morning, “I am back in Basel getting ready for my hometown tournament. I stopped by today at the tennis club I grew up at and this is the wall I hit against for hours and hours when I was young and just starting to play tennis.”

The former world number one took some time out to heal a couple of small injuries that occurred during his hectic schedule in America this summer. The World No. 4 hasn’t been seen on Tour since he helped Switzerland climb up into the Davis Cup World Group by defeating Australia. FedExpress travelled to Sydney, Australia straight after finishing off his US Open stint where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals despite holding match points.

With an amazing 67 career singles titles and a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics in the doubles with Stanislas Wawrinka it’s fair to say this Swiss gentleman has won it all. The 30-year-old’s win/loss record this year stands at 49-12. Despite only having won one title this year in Doha Federer’s Grand Slam record has been great. He reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open (l. Novak Djokovic), the final of Roland Garros (l. Nadal), the quarterfinal of Wimbledon (l.Tsonga) and at the last Grand Slam of the year, the US Open he lost to Novak Djokovic in the semi-final.

The main draw of the Swiss Indoors in Basel starts on Monday. Federer is hoping to win the Basel title for the fifth time in his career. Once upon a time the Swiss number one serves as a ball boy at this tournament.

Next week’s competition will be tough with players like Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Mardy Fish, Tomas Berdych and Andy Roddick. Federer has already qualified for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London in November so the pressure is off. He is looking to play the in the Paris Masters the week after Basel before finishing off this season at the O2 Arena in London.

Many think Federer’s career is over because he is not “winning everything” anymore. We are hoping to be able to watch this perfect player for many years to come. Thanks to Roger tennis has grown in popularity over the last couple of years. We love watching his immaculate groundstrokes and shot selections. It’s a pleasure seeing this individual walking onto the court over the last decade in his perfectly pressed clothes waving and smiling at his fans.
