Unseeded Players In Kitbuhel Final

Dutchman Robin Haase has reached his first ATP World Tour Final at the Bet-At-Home Cup in Kitzbuhel after beating Brazilian qualifier Joao Souza 6-1 6-7 (3) 6-4. Haase upset second seed Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in three sets in the second round. He also took out the number six seed Italian Andreas Seppi in the quarterfinal.

“I have played well this year, but suffered a few tough losses. I knew that I needed to give myself some time and I’m happy that I worked well so far this week. Now I’m here in the final and that feels great. I like it here. My serve is a bit more efficient in the altitude. Many Dutch people came to support me,” Haase said.

Haase broke serve three times in the first set. The Brazilian qualifier came back in the second set and had a chance to serve for the set and failed but managed to get ahead in the tiebreak and win the second set 7-6. Haase broke early in the third set and took the match. “I hope to take my good form to the final and play well again. I hope that I can keep up my good record from Challenger finals,” The Dutchman said.

Spain’s Albert Montanes is in his 10^th ATP World Tour Final after causing an upset. The World No. 50 won easily against top seed and world number twenty one Juan Ignacio Chela 6-2 7-5.

Montanes is looking to win his 6^th ATP World Tour career title in Kitzbuhel this week. The Spaniard won two tournaments in 2010, Stuttgart and Estoril. On route to the final Montanes overcame World No. 42 Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in two sets.

The winner of the Bet-At-Home Cup will take home €72 600 and the finalist €38 200.

The final in Kitzbuhel will be played between Daniele Bracciali of Italy and Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico and The Brazilian team of Franco Ferreiro and Andre Sa. The number four seeds Bracciali and Gonzalez cruised past Victor Hanescu and Frank Moser 6-3 6-4 to earn a spot in the final.

In the bottom half of the draw the Brazilian team Ferreiro and Sa fought hard to win over Igor Andreev and Daniel Gimeno-Traver 7-6 (5) 6-7 (3) 12-10. Andreev and Gimeno-Traver had an impressive win over second seeds Christopher Kas and Alexander Peya in the second round winning 6-3 6-3.
