It was exciting knowing that we’d be in London once again, representing 10sBalls.com, after a successful trip Pancho and I had last year; however, our time this year has already started off with much more activity and fun than we’d thought.

L.J. and I, and a former 10sBalls.com associate , landed at Heathrow Airport the day The Queen’s Club began (something she hasn’t done in about a dozen years), and we headed straight for The Hotel in Wimbledon, just a few miles from downtown London.

The hotel was referred to us by Sven , and after a few nights, it grew on us – it’s a spectacular  place with great views, and it only takes us about 30 minutes to get to The Queen’s Club by car.

On Court 1 on Wednesday, we also caught the doubles match featuring Ryan Harrison (USA) & Michael Venus (NZD) vs. Feliciano Lopez (ESP) & Marc Lopez (ESP).

The entire match was fun to watch because both teams put on a show of their talents. Harrison and Venus would hit strong volleys towards the Spanish players, and the Lopez’ would respond with nicer finesse, smart volleys. It looked like both teams were having fun; sometimes Harrison and Venus would laugh at their own missed shots and sometimes the Lopez’ would laugh and some weird trick shot they didn’t manage to pull off, and the crowd was loving it.

Both teams did really well, but again it was a consistent effort that won the match as Harrison and Venus’ strong play beat the Lopez’ in two straight sets. Harrison and Venus played really well because they didn’t let the Lopez get hot at any point. There were times when the Lopez’ would muster up a few good points but you knew who was dominating.

It’s been a great few days at The Queen’s Club . The matches have been spectacular. The event has tripled in size but it was done with great planning .

You still feel the intimacy and you can not beat the ambience and surroundings. The Seating Stewards are on top of every empty seat to be certain that It’s filled with a happy fan.

We spent some time today with Jan Michael Gambill. He looked great. It had really been awhile since LJ and Jan Mike had seen each other.
And he is coaching Jared Donaldson who we also chatted up a bit. Jared is a 20 year old AMERICAN who couldn’t have been nicer to have a chat with.

Editors Note : It’s interesting • since QUEENS is an actual tennis club you get the most amazing fans. They are all polite and really know the game. This tourney will most probably win tourney of the year again. I’m pretty certain that It will.

What other 500 level event has Fraser Russell [Head Concierge ] As well as the best players lounge. A great selection of healthy food , fresh made fruit smoothies and the players eat heaps of strawberries.

There’s also a barbershop within the players lounge with 2 barbers standing by scissors in hand. Yes , all the players Haircuts look great.

We haven’t been around an educated group of fans like this since back in the day at Forest Hills.
