Greetings readers. It’s been 6 years ago That we started the tennis website 10sBalls_com. Our goal was to try and save Gene Scott’s “Tennis Week ” from going “Dark” we tried to buy it from IMG to no avail.

So in January of 2010 we launched. What did we know about running a tennis website. …. Not much… seriously… ok. Nothing. … But we knew enough about tennis to run 10 Tennis websites.

 

Gene Scott was an early friend and mentor of mine. We were there for his launch in 1974 of Tennis Week . From time to time we re-run his brilliant Vantage Points. Gene knew everything about tennis. He especially knew how to treat the press!… Like gold and how to promote an event. A tournament director and a tourney promoter are not necessarily the same person. Not everyone has all those skills. …..

 

FYI. I’ve tried to write this “10S Whenever Newsletter # 1000″ a dozen times this past month. It always turned negative and so here’s this attempt. We missed number 500 for the same problem. So we had number 499 and skipped to 501 without celebrating number 500.

 

We only started the newsletter because one of of followers kept bugging us. And no it wasn’t my mother. It was Irene Lee of California. Who by the way is not a tennis fan. She is a Roger Federer fan.

 

Today we finally caught up with Global Chick. We never saw her in Paris. Hard to know where she was hiding between the rain showers…Or maybe she left Paris? That’s our Global Chick…. We are thrilled she is recharged and seriously ready for some great grass… Aren’t we all. Let’s see all those pristine lawns. Time for some Pimms and strawberries with cream and did I mention the grass?

 

This trip it’s a big team again. Frankie leads the team, with Ricky Dimon and Andy Fitzell and of course Daisy. Oh I almost forgot Alejandro is off to London too. Geezer is still thinking about it. This team leaves Wednesday. Queens and Halle here we come. It’s important to take a moment to thank everyone that helped us along the way. Special thanks to Staff and various people who have inspired us! Starting with Francisco, Alejandro, & Mori from “Take Out Marketing”.

But as Louise would always say as I ran out the door racket tucked under my arm “bring home the bacon…”

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes.
