Happy Leap Year Day! Its nice to be able to say that. Global Chick checked in with us briefly. She was at the OSCARS (when Leo calls….) She was at the Vanity Fair party. She would have been the belle of the ball but Maria sharapova took that honor.

Global Chick was everywhere that was the place to be. Of course she hung out with Roger Federer. Everyone wanted to but she had the inside track. Roger looked so handsome and dashing. So cool everyone was calling him James Bond.

And the OSCAR goes to…

Roger Federer is in a league of his own. The good news is the right knee, yes we finally know which knee, is healing nicely. But not nearly ready for those grit filled hard courts of Indian Wells. They tear up the balls, the shoes, the feet and the ankles, knees and backs…… Too much sand in the last coats. More on that another time. But softer hard courts exist. Check out Eric Koritas (we will add link) new courts made from recycled tennis balls. The season is long the surfaces need to be more body friendly.

R.F. will shoot his NIKE commercial. Roy will be bursting with excitement of the new line. He always Is.

R.F. will make lots of champagne bubble stops for Moët Chandon. Maybe get to visit Coach Gavin in the studio to watch the leader of BUSH in his world. Don’t forget Gwen and Gavin are step parents to the Federer girl twins. Can’t remember the godparents of Leo and Lenny?

Chances are Global Chick will not surface again until Indian Wells main draw begins. Heck there’s Davis Cup everywhere…. Maybe she is headed to the grass at Kooyong? We here at 10sBalls are coming in full force. There’s Me, Pancho, Deb, Ricky Richard, Alejandro, George, and maybe more global surprises……

Indian Wells is probably one of the best highlights of the Year. It’s also an amazing place to holiday or to live.

Most of the Coachella Valley is truly magnificent most of the year. But so totally HOT in July, August, September and maybe a bit more here or there that sometimes Highway 111 is the same as the temperature. It’s a great place abundant in golf and tennis and healthy living.

Gotta run. There’s three waiting. Yes, I’m a fill in fourth for doubles today. Leap year grudge match. Maybe Davis Cup should be played on leap years?

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
