Grigor Dimitrov was only minutes removed from a 6-4, 6-4 win over Sergiy Stakhovsky, but the Bulgarian baseliner was already anticipating his next encounter at the Swiss Indoors Basel.
And who could blame him. After all, the 24-year-old had just booked a second-round encounter with 27-time ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titlist Rafael Nadal, a seemingly indomitable force against whom he’s 0-6 in FedEx ATP Head2Head match-ups.
“I’m already looking forward to tomorrow’s match,” said Dimitrov. “The excitement is building up.”
Dimitrov never faced a break point his his win over Stakhovsky on Tuesday, winning 25 first-serve points to go along with five aces.
