Greetings tennis fans. We have so much to share we don’t know what to lead with… How about today “The BLACK” shirt came out. What black shirt? One of our staffers has worn a different colored alligator shirt daily. It started with Sunday the first day of tennis. They wore 10sBalls yellow. Great start. During the first week we saw various blues. Red. Orange for our DUTCH friends and today with Roger Federer being sick and coming out “flat” and losing … We now see the black shirt. We are wondering if that’s all we will see till the French Open is over.
The photo was being set up when a four legged friend decided to make our display a bed. So you can see the collection.
The clay is always different from year to year. This year there seems to be a lot of “top loose layer”. It’s rare to see Federer take a spill or Sharapova. A lot of slides seemed like they were harder to stop. I grew up on red clay. I know it all too well. No two courts even at the same club or venue play the same. Grass is the same way. ( FYI The best surface in the world ! )
10sballs_com has never seen a match stopped for over thirty minutes when part of the stadium scoreboard or bird scaffolding tumbled down in the wind. Luckily only a few spectators were injured in a minor way. It could have really been a whole lot worse. The match on court was Jo Willie Tsonga beating up on Kei Nishikori. After the match stopped the momentum turned and Kei was in the match. It took Tsonga to the fifth set to get his head straight. The French crowds love the talented French man. Any one else notice how his black Adidas gear ( clothes) have the ball boys all looking like small versions of him. Notice the ball girl outfits look like Bethanie Mattek Sands outfits ? Adidas stole her look. They Owe her a check. Update Beth and Mike Bryan won their mixed match today. As did Bob and Mike Bryan winning their men’s dubs match.
We have to mention Katrina Adams. We applaud her. We are thrilled to see a president of the USTA be so “hands on”. We love to see her doing commentating for tennis channel. Katrina is a dynamic woman who was already a winner as a player and coach and commentator. She has a great passion for the game. She really loves the sport. She does right by it. She is a great role model. Katrina we know tennis in America is in capable hands for the first time in ages. Bravo.
