Jan-Michael Gambill

Jan – Michael Gambill has been globe trotting my style lately. I follow him on Instagram. He has been to Los Angeles , Hawaii , NYC , Doha , Melbourne , China. And that’s all in the past week. No. Just kidding but in something like the last six weeks. Wow. But the most amazing part is he wore a different HAT each time. NYC was modeling. Hawaii hard to say. Doha television commentary. He did an awesome job and loved it. Melbourne was the Auzzie open and china was for coaching. Whew. He is a really busy man.

At age 36 he is still a really handsome hunk of a man. He really set the standard level of fitness the sport is at. For real people think it was Agassi and Gil. I say it was Jan – Mike. In 2000 he was chosen as one of people magazines top 50 most beautiful people in the world. Come on folks. That’s huge. When Harry Hopman took off his shirt he looked solid. When Nick Bollettieri took off his shirt he was tan.

When Jan – Michael took off his shirt he was awesome. A body that was beautiful ! It still is if you like tattoos. Lovey also known around here @10sballs as Big Boss was a huge fan, friend , manager. His highest singles ranking was in 2001 he was ranked 14 in the world. He had a very respectable doubles career as well with a high of 23 in 2002. Lovey was in Jan – Michael’s player guest box in 2000 when he reached the quarter finals at Wimbledon. Jan – Mike played great on grass he played well indoors and on hard courts.

But clay was his weakest surface and usually he got hurt trying to move on it. He really should have skipped it. He lacked the patience that clay requires. Especially the French Open. He basically played with both hands on both sides. What a shame it so limited his reach.footwork could have been better.

He was a Fierce competitor. He was injury plagued. He has far less titles than someone with his talent deserved. And the icing on the cake: He was as nice as he was good looking. Career singles titles. 3.: Scottsdale, Delray Beach twice.
