Walking into the tennis garden I spot the 10sBalls.com crew. I head over to say “Hi,” take a seat when suddenly Lovey hops up and walks just behind me to say hello to somebody. I turn around and there he is, Roger Federer! They exchange a few words, and I overhear him telling her she’s very sweet. Lovey comes back, with a big smile, “of course”

I mean after all Roger did just call her sweet ;)

We get back to talking and decide on which matches to watch. There are a few highlights for today including a Federer & Wawrinka doubles match. I do however have my eyes on some of the matches with the younger guys; Dominic Thiem and Daniel Kosakowski. Both qualifiers; Dominic Thiem being the big hitting kid who took out Nicolas Meister and hardworking Daniel who took out David Goffin in a big upset to qualify for his first ATP 1000.

Both of them will be chomping at the bit for a place in the second round. Having known Daniel for years, I had to be there to watch and support both sides. The match started out tough with Daniel having break points in the third game but Thiem once again was firing on all cylinders; Pumping out serves in the 130’s and a slew of winners off both wings. With some great one handed backhand exchanges, Daniel, after going down in the first and being the fighter he is, fought through a pulled muscle he suffered in the first set to take the second to a tie breaker. Thiem eventually took the match 6-2, 7-6.

I was then off to watch Azarenka with my mom who came down to visit. Earlier in the day Pancho gave us tickets for Front Row Center Court, right next to RedFoo from the band LMFAO who was there supporting his girlfriend, Azarenka. I have to say that was pretty cool.

After the match while RedFoo was being mobbed on the way out, I was also approached by someone. A lady stopped me and asked if I was Austin the writer from 10sBalls.com, explaining that she had been reading my articles. Guess Redfoo wasn’t the only one with fans walking out of the stadium; wink, wink ;)

I then headed to the trainers to have my hip worked on. This is where I saw Daniel Kosakowski being worked on for the injury he suffered during his match. I was so eager to talk to him about his match but I was quickly distracted when the trainer strapped a seat belt type harness to my leg to wrench on my hip for a good 10 minutes.

After all that, I went to The Chop House with my mom and Brianna for dinner to fill my belly and call it a good day. We had a great dinner and how wonderful is it to have all these great restaurants right on site – The Chop House, Nobu, and Pierro’s Pizza.

Until Next time

Austin
