ASICS is well represented at the Delray Beach Open as two seeds were ousted tonight by ASICS players!

Here is an update from this week at the ATP 250 event in Delray Beach, Florida:

Swaggy Stevie has got his Mojo back!!! Stevie Johnson won his ninth match in a row and just beat the #1 seed and world #12 Tommy Haas (ASICS FW) 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(2) – in a match that was televised live on The Tennis Channel – to advance to the quarter-finals of the Delray Beach Open. Stevie will have to beat world #27 Feliciano Lopez for a chance to book himself a spot in the semis. He is lone American standing in the top half of the draw. This is Stevie’s second ATP quarter-final already in 2014. He has had the best start to 2014 among all American men with wins already over Baghdatis, Anderson and Haas and an ATP Challenger title in Dallas to his name this year!

Marinko Matosevic advanced to his third quarter-final of 2014. He won his first round match 6-2, 6-4 over David Goffin and tonight won his match over fellow patriot and former world #1 Lleyton Hewitt in what was dubbed a ‘challenge match’ for Rafter and the Australian Davis Cup team. Hewitt unfortunately had to retire due to a shoulder injury after losing the first set in a tie-breaker.

Michael Russell came close to upsetting the #2 seed and world #13 John Isner but lost a very close match 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 to the #1 American.

The #3 seeded doubles team Scott Lipsky & Santiago Gonzalez won their opening match against Aussies Chris Guccione and Lleyton Hewitt to advance to the quarter-finals in doubles

Jan-Michael Gambill made his ATP Champion’s Tour debut this past weekend in Delray Beach in an event coinciding with the ATP event.. Jan-Michael, playing in ASICS head-to-toe, helped lead Team USA along with Andy Roddick to victory with his wins over Goran Ivanesivic and Mikael Pernfors.

Also happening this week is the Rio Open where ASICS is the official footwear and apparel brand for the event.
