Australian Open 2014. Melbourne . It’s hot and getting HOTTER ! If you are in Melbourne you know its a real scorcher. We called it over the week end. Didn’t even need to check the farmers almanac we checked out the weather on the iPhones. . Yikes. …Martina Navatrilova said its her opinion that it’s too hot to play. We tend to agree. Paul Annacone is a refreshing new voice. Both in his actual voice and his comments. We were sorry to see Venus Williams go out in the first round. With her health situation we know as does she that she needs to win in straight sets. We saw Michael Chang looking like he was wearing his mothers white floppy bonnet ( maybe Even grannies Hat) but guess it does the trick. Interesting Martina also said on hot days that she would put a wet towel under her shoes on changeovers to help cool off her shoes and her feet in general. Great observations. She also told the old Harry Hopman trick. Put cabbage leaves in the inside of your hat or cap. It keeps the sun from frying your brains.

Director Gordon Smith said ” Henry represented everything good about tennis and the USTA .he was in every sense the heart and soul of who we are and who we aspire to be. Words like LEGENDS are used far too often when an individual is extolled. In Talberts case, legend doesn’t do him justice .He set a standard that tennis leaders ,along with everyone in the game ,should aspire to achieve. He was a caring and loving individual.those who could call him FREIND can treasure the memories of the special relationship .there will never be another Henry Talbert. ”

Nice to see Redfoo back in the players box of his baby Vicka. He did a lot of touring at the end of last year and we sure missed him on the tour.

Pam Shriver has a radiant heat thermometer and says the court heat is 145 degrees Fahrenheit ? And guess what folks. It’s only going to get hotter.
