Murray To Play Acapulco

 

Andy Murray will make his first appearance in Mexico at the 2014 Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco, 2014, tournament director Raul Zurutuza announced.

 

The ATP 500 event will be played on hard courts for the first time next year after 20 years of being played on clay. David Ferrer, John Isner and Daniela Hantuchova have also confirmed their participation.

 

“I’m looking forward to playing in Acapulco for the first time next February. I have heard so many great things about the tournament and the city and I am excited to play in front of a Mexican crowd, who love and know their sport”, Murray said.

 

The 21st edition of the tournament will be held from February 28th to March 1st 2014 at The Fairmont Acapulco Princess in Acapulco.

If things progress the way we hope, he’s going to get closer. It’s no secret he’s not there yet and there’s a lot of work to be done, but he’s 22 and I have no doubt he will be up there.”
