Washington Kastles earn top playoff seed entering final week of WTT  |

Kastles and Martina Hingis face Philadelphia Freedoms and Boston Lobsters in last regular season home matches; secure home-court advantage for playoffs with three weekend wins

With just two home matches remaining in the WTT regular season and former world No. 1 Martina Hingis leading the way on the court, the Washington Kastles are fired up for post-season play having secured a first-place finish in the Eastern Conference this weekend.

Monday, July 22, the Kastles face conference foe the Philadelphia Freedoms at Kastles Stadium at The Wharf. Washington beat the Freedoms 22-18 last time the teams met on July 16 in Philadelphia, winning the mixed doubles, men’s singles and women’s singles events. Following a trip to New York Tuesday to take on the Sportimes, the Kastles return home to host the Boston Lobsters in their final regular season match. While Washington has won all three matches against Boston thus far in the season, it will not be an easy take down with the Lobsters still fighting for a playoff spot.

Post-season play begins the following day for the Kastles. Washington will host the Mylan WTT Eastern Conference Championship against the conference’s second-place finisher Thursday, July 25 at Kastles Stadium at The Wharf. Should the Kastles win Thursday, they will host the Mylan WTT Finals Sunday, July 28.

A third-straight championship for the Kastles would top off an already historic season. On Tuesday July 9, the Kastles set a new record for the longest winning streak in U.S. major pro-sports history, defeating the Lobsters to earn their 34th-straight win.
