Washington Kastles to Defend WTT Title & Continue Historic Streak at Home Opener on July 8

The league champion Washington Kastles will open their 2013 season at Kastles Stadium at The Wharf on Monday, July 8 when they take on the rival New York Sportimes. Led by Venus Williams, the Kastles aim to tie the longest winning streak in U.S. pro-sports history, 33 consecutive wins, on opening night. The evening will begin with a ceremony honoring the 2012 WTT Champion Washington Kastles. All fans in attendance with receive a 2012 champion shirt.

 

Venus Williams will join the Kastles again on Tuesday, July 9 to contest against the Boston Lobsters. Prior to the match, the Kastles will host a children’s tennis clinic. This is a closed event to the public, but open to interested media. Please contact Qorvis for credentials.

 

After an away match on July 10, the Kastles will return to D.C. on July 11 to face former world No. 1 and US Open champion Andy Roddick and the Springfield Lasers.

4:45 p.m. Media check-in table opens for match.

5:15 p.m. Stadium gates open.

5:45 p.m. Venus Williams will hold a brief press conference. All credentialed media are welcome to attend the press conference, which will be held in the VIP tent area.

6:55 p.m. Kastles to host a Mylan WTT Championship banner ceremony. (Time approximate)

7:00 p.m. Match events begin. Kastles take on the New York Sportimes.

3:15 p.m. Media check-in table opens for clinic.

3:30 p.m. Venus Williams and the Kastles host tennis clinic for youth organization(3:30 – 4:30 p.m.)

5:15 p.m. Stadium gates open.

5:45 p.m. Washington Kastles host a team press conference about winning streak record. All credentialed media are welcome to attend the press conference, which will be held in the VIP tent area.

7:00 p.m. Match events begin. Kastles take on the Boston Lobsters
