There is a pilot and a co pilot. I’m listening to Lindsay Davenport and someone unknown as a former tennis player and that is a man named Ian Eagle ( way better than one named Josh ) . What I’m hearing is a great commentating job. Great. So from this point on instead of all of us trashing ALL the commentators or match analyzers let’s congratulate the good ones. Let’s tell the world that some of these TV people “get it “. Simple rules
Don’t talk while ball is in play
Don’t talk about your playing days
Don’t laugh at each others jokes
Don’t try and get a job coaching them by all your blah blah blah from / in the booth .Oops not a booth. A cockpit. (In a booth they all act like equals. They are colleagues not equals. The cockpit helps define the roles. Are you listening Brent ? )
This is for the co pilot. Don’t sit there reading your stats and try to sound smarter than the pilot. (BH) that’s you again.
We’ve watched on every channel that’s showing the tennis. Confusing schedule to the viewers. Yes. I’m confused. Ok and we can tell you that our buddy Justin Gimelstob is doing a great job. We aren’t just saying that because of our partnership in his fantastic fundraiser. We are saying it because it’s true.
The key really is in just not talking so much. Let us the viewer just enjoy the brilliance in the swings and shotmaking. Personally I’d put the whole bunch in for some personality/television retraining. It’s true. They are grumpy. Moody. And yak away. The reality is our sport is a super sport with superstars. The pilot and maybe the co pilot had their days of fame and glory. Just take away the egos and let us enjoy the awesome camera angles and the tennis match.
