Fed Cup

No news that we know of. There is a fairly big Challenger this week, at Dothan, but it hasn’t produced any major stories that we know of.

This Week’s Movers — Women

Each week, Daily Tennis will look at the biggest movers of the week, looking at how they did what they did.

Biggest Upward Mover — Most Places Moved (Top 100)

Leader: Alexandra Cadantu — Moved 22 places, from #117 to #95.

Cadantu qualified for Katowice and made the semifinal.

Runner-Up: Annika Beck — Moved 14 places, from #74 to #60

Beck was the other Katowice semifinalist.

Biggest Percentage Mover — Cut Ranking By Highest Percent (Top 100)

Leader: Beck, cut ranking 19%

Runner-Up: Cadantu, 19%

Biggest Loser — Most Places Lost (Top 100)

Loser: Petra Martic — Dropped 9 places, from #91 to #100

Last year, Martic was a Copenhagen semifinalist. This year, she fell in the Katowice quarterfinal.

Biggest Percentage Loser — Worst Percentage Increase in Ranking (Top 100)

Loser: Carla Suarez Navarro, ranking increased 4 places, 21%, from #19 to #23.

Last year, Suarez Navarro was a Barcelona semifinalist. This year, she didn’t play.

Ranking Notes

Obviously a very quiet week. Beck and Cadantu were the only players to rise more than 15%; Suarez Navarro was the only player to fall more than 10%.

Our Personal Picks for “Best Mover of the Week”

These are subjective picks!

Beck and Cadantu had the same result, and effectively the same percentage move. But Beck hit a career high. So we’ll go with Beck.
