Since 1989, tennis legend and South Florida philanthropist Chris Evert has hosted the event in an ongoing campaign to assist in drug abuse and child neglect in Florida. Her efforts have resulted in contributions of more than $20.6 million, including $600,000 in 2012.
Chris Evert Charities partners with the Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida, a public-private partnership blending state and private dollars and investing them in innovative, community-based programs that give Florida children a chance to live free from the ravages of drug abuse and neglect.
The 2013 event will kick off with the Tennis Pro-Am and Classic Cocktail Reception at the Boca Resort & Club Friday, followed by two days of Pro-Celebrity Tennis at the Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center. The annual Charity Gala, which includes both live and silent auctions, is scheduled for Saturday evening at the Boca Resort & Club.
Many of Evert’s celebrity friends join her to help raise funds at the event. Last year Jon Lovitz (Saturday Night Live), Tom Arnold (True Lies), Jill Zarin (Housewives of New York), David Cook (American Idol) and Elisabeth Shue (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) were among the celebrities in attendance, with Tennis Hall of Famer Martina Navratilova and Brad Gilbert among the former tennis stars.
Chris Evert Charities also announced that financial services company Raymond James Financial has extended its contract to continue as the title sponsor of the longtime fundraising event.
Tickets for the Pro-Celebrity tennis event range in price from $20 to $90. General admission tickets are $20, individual club seats with seat backs are $40 per day or $70 for the weekend, and platinum level seating is $90 per day or $175 for the two-day session.
Tickets to the Charity Gala are $750.
