A Big Day for the American at the Relyaid/Natomas Challenger

Three American players who received wild card entries into the singles draw, came away with wins to advance to the quarter-finals of the Relyaid/Natomas Challenger. No. 2 Seed, James Blake entertained the center court crowd during the featured match of the day as he defeated Rick DeVoest (RSA), 6-4,6-4. Despite a first serve percentage of just 43%, James was still only broken once during the match.

 

With his win, Blake will take on Bradley Klahn in the quarter-finals who after losing a close first set to qualifier, Greg Jones (AUS), came on to win, 3-6,6-4,6-3. This was the second match in a row where Bradley defeated a player from down under after beating John Millman(AUS) in the first round.

 

Earlier in the day, Daniel Kosakowski continued his winning ways as he came from behind to defeat fellow American, Michael McClune, 4-6,7-6(5), 6-2. Daniel defeated top seed Benjamin Becker in the first round

 

Fridays quarter-finals kicks off at noon where Tennys Sandgren (USA) plays Mischa Zverev (GER) on stadium court while on court one, Bobby Reynolds (USA) plays Luca Vanni (ITA). The other two matches will have Daniel Kosakowski(USA) playing No.5 Seed, Matteo Viola(ITA) and No. 2 Seed, James Blake playing Bradley Klahn (USA).

 

The Relyaid/Natomas Challenger has experienced tremendous local support forming partnerships with FSP Shipping, Anderson Schoach and Lasher Audi Volkswagen.
