Daniel Nestor may have won his third straight French Open doubles title but that didn’t mean that the low-voltage Canadian was in the mood to do any extra celebrating after he and Max Mirnyi beat the Bryan brothers 6-4, 6-4 in the final.

“You don’t want to take your clothes off and start dancing around the court when you win,” said the dead-pan veteran, whose 78 doubles titles are the most in history. “We have a lot of respect for the opposition today.”

Nestor and Mirnyi will keep the No. 1 ranking they took off the twins at the start of May. “Unbelievable, it’s a great feeling,” said the Canadian. “It was not the best match by some of us on the court today, including myself and definitely them.”

Nestor credited a mental about face after losing a Madrid semi-final with helping his side to lift. “We made a commitment to really bear down in the big moments and play aggressive, stick to our game plan and really be mentally tough.”

Nestor has now won four Roland Garros titles over the past six editions with three different partners.
