JUNIORS: Khromacheva tumbles at Roland Garros
ITF Junior World Champion Irina Khromacheva was the first notable seed to exit Junior Roland Garros when she lost on the opening day to German qualifier Antonia Lottner.
The No. 4 seed, who finished as runner-up to Ashleigh Barty at 2011 Junior Wimbledon, won just three games in a match which lasted one hour 11 minutes.
Top seed Taylor Townsend had little trouble reaching the second round, while the boys’ No. 1 Luke Saville also progressed, fighting back from a set and a break down.
