The women’s Fed Cup World Group semifinals results are in and these ladies are really giving it all they’ve got for their countries as they battle it out on the courts. Currently Russia and Serbia are tied at 1-1, while the U.S.A is in the lead at 2-0 against Ukraine. The excitement in Monte Carlo is explosive with the upcoming blockbuster final between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. This will make the 31st time these two titans of tennis clash on the courts in a head to head battle. Rafa has won this title seven  years in a row so he definitely won’t give it up without a fight. Fed Cup: U.S. vs. Ukraine – Day One Notes – U.S. leads Ukraine 2-0

The United States will look to clinch in the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Playoff against Ukraine on Sunday. Coverage begins on Tennis Channel at 10:30am ET on an outdoor clay court at the Superior Golf and Spa Resort in Kharkiv, Ukraine. The odds are in the United States’ favor tomorrow, as the U.S. team captured both singles matches on Day One to lead Ukraine 2-0. The U.S. is a perfect 18-0 when leading 2-0 on the first day. Today began with Christina McHale, who captured her third consecutive Fed Cup singles win beating Lesia Tsurenko, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. [Read More]

The USTA announced today the top American juniors who will represent the United States in the Junior Davis Cup (16-and-under) and Junior Fed Cup (16-and-under) by BNP Paribas and the World Junior Tennis Competition (14-and-under) North/Central American and Caribbean Championships. Each event features a four-team round robin competition April 26-28 in Merida, Mexico. Other nations participating include: Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The top two teams from each division in the North/Central American and Caribbean Championships in Mexico will advance to the 16-nation World Final. The World Junior Tennis World Final will be held August 13-18 in Prostejov, Czech Republic, while the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup World Finals will be held September 25-30 in Barcelona, Spain. The ITF today confirmed the first two entries for the 2012 Olympic Tennis Event after Tripartite Commission Invitation places were allocated in the women’s singles to Stephanie Vogt of Liechtenstein and Veronica Cepede Royg of Paraguay. The Olympic Tennis Event will take place at the All England Club, Wimbledon on 28 July – 5 August 2012. The Tripartite Commission consists of representatives from the IOC, National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and the ITF, with invitations available for singles players from nations with small Olympic teams.
