I had one day off in 6 weeks because when I came back to Amsterdam I had several meetings on working on a new project with the city of Amsterdam and team meetings with Adidas plus I spend time with the Academy players and coach’s

In the same week Laura Robson came to prepare before the tournament in Copenhagen where I am working with both Laura and Caroline. [Read More]

Local Knowledge No.2 – Boom Boom Boris

Few realised in 1985 what the young flame-haired German would become over the next ten years. Few realised, in fact, what he would become over the next ten working days. The sgins were there for the aficionados of grass court tennis. Srtrong serve, great athleticism and no fear of the net – and a win a Queens that same year was a portent, as in many years, to what was about to happen. Aged just 17 years and 227 days, Boris Becker wrote his name in history as the youngest Wimbledon champion to date. [Read More]

McDonald Takes ITF Boys’ 18s Singles Title Day At The Easter Bowl

When Mackenzie McDonald wakes up on Monday morning, his 17th birthday, it will probably have sunk in: He’s the 2012 boys’ 1TF 18s singles champion at the Easter Bowl. Just three years ago, on his final days as a 13-year-old, McDonald won the gold ball in the USTA Springs Nationals in the 14s at the Easter Bowl. “This is so big, one of the most prestigious events we have in the nation,” said McDonald, aware that so few repeat in this tournament in multiple divisions, following his 6-4, 6-1 win over Alexios Halebian on Sunday at Rancho Las Palmas Resort. “It shows all my hard work has paid off. When you’ve been away from the game as long as I have, you begin to appreciate things more.” [Read More]

Kvitova: ‘It will be good revenge’

Petra Kvitova is out for revenge this weekend as her Czech Republic side face Italy in the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas semifinal. “It will be good revenge,” the Czech No.1 remarked when asked about the tie. “Last time when played against them we lost 5-0, so it wasn’t really a good result and we have bad memories from this.” That tie was the 2010 semifinal where Kvitova played in the decisive third rubber against Flavia Pennetta, losing 76(3) 62 as Czech Republic failed to win even a set on the clay in Rome.[Read More]
