Long overdue Lob. It took forever to get back from New York and get back to Civilian life (bills, correspondence, laundry, etc.)…. And off to Davis Cup.

The choice was easy Australia! So 12 hours later and very jet lagged we arrived in Sydney in time for the Ceremonies with the guests being Switzerland. And the Mighty Roger Federer.

Dwight D.Davis would have loved Roger Federer. He also would have loved that the Davis Cup has survived and kept his name. (No more Wightman Cup in women’s tennis, sorry Hazel its on my bucket list to “right”)

Ok. Here’s Geezers take on the whole deal. Why I’m having to tell you ?? That’s Geezer. Ok. Here we go. The Federation cup should be re – named the Wightman Cup. So what the format is different. The name (branding ) Fed Cup means nothing … The Name of Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman is tennis legend and part of our history …why would anyone establish anything ever if it just gets renamed or removed by some suit down the road …?

Davis Cup. Ok. I’ve expounded a bit. But the real gest of it I’ve saved for last. Ready. Drumroll. Ta da. Whoever wins the cup should be entitled to hold bragging rights till the end of the year when they are challenged by everyone else and then meet the years rival. But instead there are the tired Serbians playing for something they won so recently …I felt that way when my Auzzie buddies had won it and the blood , sweat, and tears barely seem dry ….and it was a new year and bye bye trophy ….

Great efforts by the big tired guys for playing…yes by representing your country you start the process of going to play in London in the 2012 OLYMPICS ….

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
