Today was Roger Federer’s first round match on Center (or “Centre”) court Wimbledon. The finest tennis stage on earth.
Roger was awesome, and he looked so relaxed, so focused. He came thru in straight sets, beating Mikhail Kukushkin 7-6,6-4,6-2.
The best part of watching Roger play today was the Brilliant commentating of Canadian/Brit Greg Rusedski. Greg and his dynamic wife Lucy are old friends of “Geezer’s”.
Greg’s that good! For starters he rarely speaks while ball is in play – (Point in play). His observations are witty and insightful and respectful. Greg actually said, “What would it be like to be Roger Federer for a day on a tennis court?” Greg that’s just great! We all wish we could be Federer…
Greg always felt a bit clumsy. He said Lucy ribbed him about it…
He also said Roger makes it look so easy, so graceful. He makes it look almost effortless. But don’t be fooled because he puts in the work off the court to achieve this precision, especially with his new service weapon.
Greg also had a great marketing idea (besides suggesting that used match balls should be sold with proceeds going to charity), he said he felt the players should sign them too. So, it would add a new dimension to it. Kind of like Willy Wonka bars… Greg is right we need more fan/player involvement, and get it in this way.
More fan appreciation…
Last bit for now: This morning the “q” was closed. They put a “cap” on it – Sold out. No space. Go home and watch on the telly or go to a pub in the village and have a pint. H.G. We are hoping you got in…
