Cheers from Jolly Old England. Retraction time: “Queen’s” does make the top 10!!! Kooyong, Forest Hills (Westside Tennis Club), Wimbledon, and I’ll share the other 6 another time …
End of day update – Results – Observations and general babble:
Copenhagen: Caroline Wozniaki won. So did 10sballs friend Bethanie Mattek-Sands; her scores were crazy! A Breaker, a Bagel, and a Breaker… but she won! Bethanie wears our patches on her bags, but they don’t distract from her clothes, outfits, or ensembles…. Michaela Krajicek lost a tough long match to Lucie Safarova, 6- 2 in the third.
Ok, Yes it’s Geezer here – Am I seeing this right? This is not a Grass court event…? It’s Indoors on a Hard court? So they played clay, now hard courts. But is it grass next week? I’m really confused why this is on the schedule now. The WTA doesn’t know me, but the ATP does… Dumb suits…
Birmingham: Ana Ivanovic beat young Canadian Rebecca Marino, and Heather Watson lost to Peng.
Queens: Stella Artois didn’t save the club – they saved the event. Big difference. Sorry for the confusion… Rafael Nadel beat Stepanek, but it took him three sets to do it. Tsonga beat Llodra who had to retire during the first set. Del Potro lost two breakers to a “new-name,” to us at least: Mannarino. Del Potro served 16 aces and still lost. It was two hours and two heart-breakers. Verdasco the hunk beat the boring Nalbandian while Andy Roddick beat Kevin Anderson with a pair of 4’s.
The Bryan Brothers womped Fisher and Huss 6-2,6-1…. the Indian duo barely survived. It is surreal that Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes are playing together again. They squeaked out a win over the British duo of Ross Hutchins and Fleming, 15-13 in the third.
I saved the best news for last: Drum roll… French open doubles winners Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor Beat Lipsky and Ram 10-5 in the third.
