The United States LAWN Tennis Association… Damn. I’m sounding like Andy Rooney. Anyway…. I say the “L” stood for LOGIC! Maybe even Love. But never fall in Love with a tennis player. Because to them Love means nothing. Ok. Back to what I’m getting at. The month of May used to be National Tennis Month? Where did it go? Today is MAY 27… The month is about over…
I’m in a mood. Might as well keep groaning. The city of New York makes more during the two weeks of the U.S. Open than any other event…. They make a fortune…The USTA makes a Bigger fortune…. Where is the current day Gene Scott who would be championing the effort … Ready. Mayor Bloomberg is raising costs to play tennis on city courts. Permits are doubling from 100 to 200 and court fees are doubling too. My point. New York City should be the most friendly tennis city in America. Why? It hosts our U.S. Open. The city is impacted by extra traffic during that time. Why shouldn’t we form great grassroots program. It’s Great for tourism. Come to NYC Home of U.S. Open and play tennis for free. In these hard economic times it’s a crime to raise rates to play tennis anywhere but NYC especially. This isn’t the first I’ve written about NYC.
