What a great event and what a great finals. I turned on the Tennis Channel and thought Mary Jo Fernandez was playing. But then I saw it was the finals with Caroline Wozniaki. Wow. And Caroline didn’t win or drive away in the beautiful Porsche. The champion of Stuttgart is Julia GOERGES. Really with her head band on and a quick glance prior to some coffee I thought I was seeing Mary Jo…. ok. You get it… “Geezer” is writing today.
Here’s what we know about the beautiful and talented Julia. She is only 22, lives in Hanover, and is 5’11” tall. She finished 2010 in the Top 40 on the WTA tour. In her players box we saw Sasha Hensel the old coach of Nicolas Kiefer. Both girls looked beautiful. Both wearing some make -up and both with polished nails. Julia had on blue to match her dress. Its so amazing to see the high level of tennis that these girls play …its literally a battle of ground strokes and angles….
When the trophies were being presented Caroline was gracious in her loss, that’s a sign of a true champion. We are blessed to have so many good sports in tennis. Men’s and Ladies.
As Caro walked on court the announcer asked her about her morning run? At first she seemed very surprised he knew about it …she said it’s her routine …up early. Morning run. Breakfast. Back to sleep. ? Hmn … Does that explain why she seemed slightly flat? Routines are nice but adaptability and flexibility should be the daily plan…based on sleep…. lots of variables. … Players are superstitious. They like their routines. But too many times they don’t have a “full tank” left to play the match?
That’s just 10sballs.coms opinion. What yours?
