10 most likely… if you haven’t read Erin’s picks check them out. Great observations…
10sballs.com was a big, big, big fan of one of the guys who beat RAFA the bull. It was little Guillermo Coria. Ounce per ounce and kilo per kilo that guy gave it his all and you thought he was twice as big and strong. He was 5’9″ and 152 soaking wet with all his gear on … Coria’s highest singles ranking was number 3 in the world in 2004. What a talented and gifted player. Big Boss was blue to see him leave the game so early. Saddest loss for him had to be: the French open final …he choked… We all choke at times, its part of performing… Sometimes it’s hard to hold it all together. You’ve worked for hours for that moment to step up to the service line and you can’t finish it off …nerves control your thoughts …your legs go weak…your elbow freezes. (Maybe your whole arm) …poor Guillermo….
As usual I’ve used the ATP World Tour media guide to check numbers… Thank you Greg! Maybe for 2012 they will call it ” Sharko’s ATP World tour media guide.” …it even helps teach you how to pronounce names (ghee-ZHAIR-mo KAW-rea)!
To me it seemed the tennis world looked at him like he was Rios. Nope. He did sneer a bit. But he was no Rios. He was a little guy in a sport that’s become a big mans sport. He didn’t speak a lot of English so he didn’t really get a big following …he sure was talented. He finished in the top ten 3 straight years (2003,2004,2005 )
I’m pretty sure he is the only guy with a win on clay over Rafa. Monte Carlo?
