Meet the guys… Austin Karosi, Nico, and Christian. Who are they? They are a few of the guys that fill in to hit with the pro players. They are usually local guys from colleges or clubs. 10sballs.com has been feeding these beasts….the tourney buys them lunch every other day… I guess they think they are only hungry every other day. Weird… Tennis players are always hungry…. College guys are always hungry…. Most people eat more than every other day. Austin, who is in from Singapore, has hit with Li Na, and Shahar Peer to name a few… Christian whose from Berlin has hit with Lleyton Hewitt ,as well as Stan Wawrinka this afternoon. Nico also from Germany has left and it’s been a long few weeks we can’t remember all of his hits. .. Our favorite story was Christian’s. He was sitting on bench waiting to start a practice with Hewitt. He was a bit nervous, and Tony Roche comes up to him. Looks at him sternly and says “don’t miss”. Ok, That was a lot for an 18 year old college kid. We wonder why Tony would intimidate a “hitter”. Next time better try that on an opponent… Very counterproductive…. Today’s experience with the coach of Wawrinka was exactly the opposite … Peter Lundgren walked over and basically told him what kind of “hit” he wanted for his player. It worked… they had a great session. What a wonderful approach. Bravo Lundgren!!

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
