Wow. What a great first day at the beautiful Indian Wells Tennis Gardens…. The BNP Paribas Open!!! The place was hopping. Buzzing. And blowing. Yep. Very windy day with lots of sand blowing. … Moving real estate…. Still feel the fine sand everywhere….
Today was a day to work and play. Big Boss actually got to watch a private practice session on stadium court with world number one Caroline Wozniacki…. It was great. Loved every minute (Photo is from practice session, for a video click here). It was a day to visit and catch up with old friends and tennis family…. saw Elena Baltacha. Fondly known as Bally. 10sballs.com has new red patches…. We sure hope Bally is part of our team for 2011! She is a great tennis player, but even better she is one of the kindest, nicest people ever! She always gives her ALL. And she has had an awesome career for someone with major health issues. Bravo Bally!!
Everyone at 10sballs.com was running in twelve directions all day. Had a great lunch with Donald Young and Mrs. Young. We would love to see him qualify. First round tomorrow he is on third after ten.
We got all sorts of things sorted out. The world famous Luigi will be helping us with his photos for the event. That’s a relief. We sure hope you like them. Also ran into the world famous Piero. His MAMA GINA restaurant is the best Italian food in the desert (Coachella valley) and it’s always a favorite with the players.
Spent some time with Bethanie Mattek. Tennis’ own “Lady Gaga,” she is loving her world. Bethanie and her dear husband Justin are loving life. Great to see.
Spent a visit with our old buddy Martino Mulligan. Mr. FILA. What a great friend Marty is to our sport. An ambassador of sorts.
Oops almost forgot the traffic. George bush was in town and messed up traffic on hwy 111 forever. …. Thanks George…

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
