Esther Vergeer!! You won another grand slam!!! Wow! …. You also served Daniela di Toro a “double bagel.” To those that don’t know that means: Esther is the 2011 Australian open champ with a 6-0,6-0 win… Without a doubt, just like the Bryans are the best dubs team in history, you are the best wheelchair champion in history. No one will ever reach your records. Not even close…
Bryan brothers win a fifth Australian open. Bravo guys. Keep breaking those records!!!!! Big congrats to one of our favorite Aussies—Paul Hanley. A finalist in the mixed doubles. Congrats to Shingo Kunieda for winning the men’s wheelchair championships.
Just heard from Alix Ramsay. She didn’t leave Melbourne Park till almost five in the morning on Monday. She was up all night covering Andy Murray for her country. She is just hopping on a plane. So no update till she catches up on some rest. Mail. Jet lag. Fish and chips. A pint or two… I’m sure we will hear something in a week or so.
Sven is on his way home to his club in Amsterdam, we miss you blog already! Next, the Mullanes shot the most amazing pictures down under. Thank you. They are also making their way back home.
We need to mention that the Aussie Open is run with the idea of being a fan friendly venue. Because it’s the Aussie summer. Most of the drivers and many of the tourney staff are schoolteachers. Personally I always found them to be organized and thoughtful. But also practical. They won’t leave seats empty. They’ll seat you where you don’t necessarily belong with the understanding they may ask you to move if the seat holder comes along…. G’day oz. See you next summer.
Finally, Aussie Chick has been promoted. She did the best job 10sballs.com could have imagined and then some… So we now announce “Global Chick.” New logo coming soon for our newest addition…
