Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Facebook. The Facebook numbers are staggering. Just over New Years weekend Facebook users posted a record breaking 750 million photos. Roger and Rafa are into huge numbers themselves: Rafa just passed 5 million, while Federer is getting closer to 6 with 5.6 million fans. I remember when Rafa’s hit it’s first 100. Rogers was soon after. It doesn’t seem that long ago. It’s always great to see tennis entering the mainstream… When tennis players cross over into being household names. Andy Roddick. Maria Sharapova. Ana Ivanovic. Venus Williams. Steffi Graf. Novak Djokovic. Lleyton Hewitt. Pete Sampras. Serena Williams.
10sballs.com is loving having Sven Groeneveld blogging from Australia. It’s so much fun to “be there” with Sven.
Tennis is blessed to have such a wonderful guy like Sven in our sport. Adidas and his high performance team are a dominant force. Caroline Wozniaki grew through the additional support she was provided.

In men’s tennis, Nike pretty well has the number one and two slot locked in for awhile….and I do love the Nike designs. I love Rogers’s clothes. I love Rafa’s clothes.

Talking clothes. Bethanie Mattek-Sands has outdone herself. 10sballs.com knows her well. We say wow. Looked like a last minute locker room design prior to walking on court. Ok. Ready. Black high top tennis shoes. Black knees socks. Black weird shirt. Black spaghetti top. Black visor. It looked like a reject / remake of an old Serena outfit. Her tattoo? Oh, that seems to run the length of her inner arm to arm pit! Too bad she looked so silly because she played such beautiful tennis. It was a great win over a French open winner Francesca Schiavone. 6-4,6-4. Maybe her opponent was thrown by the weirdness of the outfit. I kept looking for the motorcycle.

why does Nadal pla sick when he loose or when he play bad.tennis needs better currently there is three players that do that it is very unfair,to there opnents.

@tjaaart broodryk – i dont understand what you are saying. he played sick he should have retired. But if you retire in singles you cant play the doubles match- Rafa and his friend were in the final and Rafa didn’t want to let him down.
To have a player like Nadal at no 1 with a huge opportunity ahead of him is amazing for tennis and for tennis fans.
