Playing their last tournament together, Daniel Nestor (Toronto, ON) and his Serbian partner Nenad Zimonjic went out on a winning note, capturing top honours at the prestigious Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London, England on Sunday.

Seeded second at the season-ending event, Nestor and Zimonjic defeated India’s Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi of Belarus, who will be Nestor’s new partner in 2011, 7-6(6), 6-4 to take home their seventh title of the season. Nestor and Zimonjic didn’t have one break opportunity in the opening set and erased a 4-6 deficit in the tiebreak to win 8-6 and take a one set lead. The 2008 champions broke serve for the first time in the match at 3- 3 in the second frame and that was all they needed to collect their second title in three years at the Tour Finals. Nestor and Zimonjic saved a match point in their semifinal on Saturday to knock off the top-ranked Bryan brothers in the final encounter against their arch rivals.

In three full seasons together, Nestor and Zimonjic won 21 titles including 3 Grand Slam titles (2 Wimbledon, 1 French Open) and they also finished their 2008 campaign as the No. 1 doubles team in the world. On Sunday, Nestor, winner of the Golden Slam, claimed the 71st title of his illustrious career and third at the Tour Championships. The 38-year-old also won the title in 2007 with his former partner Mark Knowles.
