Those names jump out at me…as I drink my Corona with a homegrown lime and as I watch the Barclays year end championships on the Tennis Channel. I say how lucky tennis is to have such wonderful sponsors! My favorite (besides the crisp nice beer) is the FedEx bench…10sBalls.com asked doubles great Max Mirnyi, a.k.a. “the beast from Belarus,” his thoughts and he said, “great soft bench” when we inquired as to is it comfy?
I was good for a whole first blip. So here goes…I’m thrilled to see patches on so many players sleeves at this event. Any sponsor that bought a sleeve (did a $ patch deal) was so smart…BUT…one big problem: The ATP has these silly patch regulations that limit size, shape, etc. So instead of really being able to read/see the patch you have to be 20/15 or 20/20. If the ATP would relax the rules instead of making new ones (the rules have rules) more sponsors would invest $ in our great sport. There I said it. Wake up ATP. Let’s get a commissioner. Let’s get true player reps. I’m sorry if I talk more about men’s tennis but I follow it more…Not that the tennis woman aren’t the most amazing female athletes on the planet…

10sBalls.com wants to close with a huge congrats to Esther Vergeer. 400 wins!!! Unreal feat! We also want to congratulate her on winning the NEC World Championships…But we have to also talk about the runner up. The amazing Australian Daniela di Toro, world number one in 1998 (Esther had dethroned her as a 17 year old). How amazing and ironic that they met in the finals all these years later. Bravo to all the wheelchair tennis players!

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
