Chris Evert’s 21st annual Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic got under way Saturday at the Delray Beach Tennis Center with Evert teaming with legendary news man Stone Phillips to defeat comedian Jon Lovitz and tennis legend Murphy Jensen 6-4.

Longtime Evert rival Martina Navratilova got the best of the event’s host, teaming with Alan Thicke to post a close 6-5 win over Evert and Olympic Gold Medalist Dan Jansen.

In one of the day’s longer matches, Gavin Rossdale and Murphy Jensen spoiled Scott Foley’s return to the event, winning 8-7 in an extended pro-set.  Rossdale and Jensen rolled out to a quick 5-2 lead over Foley and Vince Spadea, before Spadea rallied with some excellent groundstrokes to even the match at seven games all and send the match into a tiebreak eventually won by Rossdale and Jensen.

American Idol winner David Cook marked his debut at the event, teaming with tennis great Sebastien Grosjean to post a 6-4 win over Navratilova and Jeffrey Donovan, star of the popular television series, Burn Notice.

Steve Doocy, co-host of the popular Fox & Friends morning show, joined with tennis Hall of Famer Gigi Fernandez to defeat actresses Maeve Quinlan and Elisabeth Shue 6-1 in the day’s first match.

I am coming to Delray beach from 9th feb 2011 for a week’s holiday and am a keen tennis player. I am a good club standard and a member of the Chichester tennis club in England. I would love to have a daily game with women or men of a similar standard who are in their 50s. Can you help me to achieve this?
